My name is Ian, and I have had an interest in photography since I was about eight when I was given a Box Brownie camera, which I believe I still have somewhere!
I purchased my first SLR, a Nikkormat FT3, from Jessops in Leicester (before they went national) when I was at college in about 1972. I even did a bit of developing at one time.
After I had been married a few years, digital photography started to take off and we bought two or three compacts before the Nikon D70 came onto the scene.
Over the years I’ve tried a few different camera systems briefly, but I’ve always settled on Nikon and, having invested quite heavily in lenses, I’m not about to change now. So you’ll have to forgive me if most of the equipment we sell is either Nikon branded or Nikon fit as this is the system I know most about and prefer.
I started to buy and sell equipment as a hobby when I was trying different lenses and selling them on. I then found myself advising and buying photography equipment for friends and family. As turnover grew and my other work diminished, I turned to these sales as my main source of income and 123 Photographs was born.
My wife, Jill, has also shared the same enthusiasm for photography ever since we have been married, and we run 123 Photographs together.
